installation date?

How do you find the original installation date on a WinXP Pro machine? Is
there an entry in the registry somewhere that has this information?

Not entirely reliable, as a Repair install may reset the date in the
Registry.
Fairly reliable "Tell" is to check the creation date of the folder
"Documents
and Settings".

The command

dir /tc c:\win*

when executed from a Command Prompt would be a
fairly good indication.
 
Right click your windows folder (or winnt folder in some cases) and select
properties. Look at the folder creation date.
