Can XP or W2K3S be installed to an external USB drive?
I get stop 0x7b, so far - (no descriptive error message though)

Is there any way I can format the external USB drive NTFS & make it
bootable? would WinPE work?

It could but why,the IDE cables give direct access to the board, goin
thru a usb connection doesnt sound practical.Youll defiently have to configur
it in the BIOS.

Most motherboards don't support booting from USB devices, so if your idea is to carry aroun
your own system and boot it from other computers, I think you will be disappointed. Also, I believ
that USB, although it is a motherboard device, needs Windows drivers to be recognized, thus they do no
show in the clean DOS-like install enviornment. Beside that, USB is very slow compared to IDE

I have configured it in the BIOS
-- it will start to load Windows XP (to finish the install)
-- then I get stop 0x7B

I want a bootable NTFS USB drive - I do not particularly care which OS: XP,
W2K3S, WinPE

Current WinPE versions can't boot from USB.
