Hello,

I was wondering if I have a partitioned drive (c: and d:)
if I could install Microsoft Office XP on drive d: if
Windows OS is installed on c:? Will Office run on d: if
Windows XP is not installed on d:?? Windows XP is
installed on c: and there is much more space on d: than
on c:

Thank you

I'd repartition the hard disk, using a utility like Partition Magic. Make
a full system backup of all the data files, address book(s), e-mail files
and configuration settings, and keep just one operating system on the
computer. If you need a data partition, make it the higher drive letter.
Windows XP will install on a partition other than C:. I have a dual boot
system, and Windows XP is on Drive H:, but each bootable primary partition
*must* start before the 8 GB mark (i.e. 8,192 MB) of the hard disk. But if
you don't need to use a higher drive letter, keep your life simple.

Yes, it is possible to install programs on a separate
partition from that which the operating system is
located. Just create a folder from the root directory of
D: called "program files". Thus, it should look like
<D:\Program Files> When you install, it will pull
whatever DLL files it needs in the C:\windows directory
automatically, and the 250 megabyte bulk of MS Office
will be located on D.

Yes you can, that is the way I have it. Office XP does not have to be
on the same drive as XP. Most people prefer to put their programs on
Drive D which usually has all the space. That is if they only used a
small partition for XP and a few small programs. :-)
