I cannot say I fully understand what you are asking...
Your computer had a virus, so you had problems getting updates. You allowed
someone to install Windows XP Professional under some misguided belief (did
they tell you this) that would repair your virus issues. Why not fix this
issue and move on - Windows XP Professional is not your issue here. Matter
of fact - the differences between Windows XP Professional and Windows XP
Home Edition are probably ones you will never encounter.
In any case, you seem to be asking how you can return to Windows XP Home
Edition from Windows XP Professional. This requires you to backup your
documents/personal files and then format your PC and install Windows XP Home
from your oiginal CD. Then you can reinstall your software (Works, Office,
etc) from their original CDs and then copy your documents and such back.
