Is there some utiltiy available that keeps "proper" track of everything an
app does when installing itself in Windows XP?
In particular are the "hidden" registry changes that take place and are not
removed when uninstalling. So when reinstalling the app it takes one to a
similar state again.

I would like to have something that tracks ALL changes made by an app on
installation and so allow one to unistall so that there is no trace of the
app ever exisiting on the PC.

Install shields are subject to what the app tells them and hence removes
what the manufacturer wants them to.

There are third party tools eg Go Back but these sometimes cause problems /
conflicts.
and of course there is System Retore

Hi

Thanks for the reply.
I am not necessarily looking for something that "returns" the PC to the
former state i.e. System restore. But rather a means of fully removing
programs from a pc with all the various registry settings it makes (long
after installation). Many apps leave traces of themselves behind which are
there should a reinstall be done.

Thnx
