I need some hard core help here! Been trying to do a clean install of XP pro
using a OEM disk. It either locks up (mostly during NT formatting) or I get
an blue screen showing an error of some kind. It pretty much always says
something about "irq not less or equal" and the info further down changes
usually. And of course, MS wants to charge for for live help. Mayday Mayday

Stop 0x000000D1 or DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
The Stop 0xD1 message indicates that the system attempted to access pageable memory using a
kernel process IRQL that was too high. The most typical cause is a bad device driver. It can
also be caused by caused by faulty or mismatched RAM, or a damaged pagefile.

Existing PC that worked with XP previously ? It helps when posting to
give minimum hardware specs ( CPU type/speed, memory count ).
There are many approaches/workarounds. One is to remove all the
peripheral cards ( excluding Video ) and attempt install that way. Also
if the PC has multiple memory modules - you may have a timing issue
and might try using the single/largest module by itself.

BIOS settings/version may play a factor or it could be issues with your
Optical drive.

From your description - issues with formatting might indicate a problem
with IDE device jumpers ( M/S or Cable Select). While using both taps
on an IDE channel work most times. I've seen cases where having both
populated (even with correct jumpering) causes issues.

Just too many areas to cover with the minimal details you provided.

Why do you repeat what others have already suggested hours earlier?
Too lazy to read replies, or do you just like to see your name in print?
Maybe you think that you're the only one who has the answers and the others don't count.

It may be due to:-

a damaged Virtual Memory Manager Page file/a faulty RAM/Or, a
non-compatible RAM.
