Hi,
I recently purchased a refurbished dell optiplex gx110
with a 6 gig hd. I installed win98 from a second hdd
because I couldn't get the cd-rom to autorun. Anyway when
I finally go access to the cd-rom, installation of xp was
accomplished. During installation, xp asked if I wanted
to keep the old partition and the old files (i assume
win98). The choice i took didn't include win32(whatever
that means) but when I checked diskspace, I only had
3.2gig left. Where did all of that space go since xp only
requires like 1.8(?) or so?

Charles;
Did you choose more than the minimal installation?
Have you installed any updates?

You really have barely more than a minimal drive for Windows XP.
Generally plan on 4 - 5 gb just for Windows XP taking into count
patches, Service Packs etc.
More if you want data or applications.

You definitely need a much bigger drive. They don't even
make them that small anymore. My Windows folder is taking
up over 3GB. My Program Files folder is close to 3GB too.
