Hi there,

We've got users who want to install printers from a website, lets say
they want to install printers made available by IPP .....but....
those users have User Privelege.

This won't work by default. Who will know what we can change to the
default XP config to get the printer installed without making the user
Power User or even worse, administrator?

Have tried to grant access to HKLM, files and dirs....Hopeless :-(

Anyone?

I will sent some cookies to the one who has the answer to this
question! ;-)

Mike,

Yes we are using group policy, and no, we are not using Windows print server.
I think the problem may be caused due to the fact a user is not granted privilege to start an internal service in the OS that configures the WinXP system.

I've read the info presented by the link you provided...but I'm not really using IPP...it's a form of...it creates a port, then creates a printer and attaches the printer to the port. It uses normal Windows functiones to accomplish it. The problem is not within that application...the problem is with the user privilege. I need a 'work around' to install non-shared printers to the WinXP system.

Have an idea?

Gr,

Another Mike
