hi,Im trying to reinstall xp on my daughters computer. The system boots from
CD ,go's into windows setup , starts copying files and then after about 10
seconds a message appears saying " iaStor.sys file can not be found " , I
then have to press any key , then it says setupfailed press any key to
restart computer. Does any one know how to re-install this............Any
help appreciated

For iastor.sys, you can "google search".
Tons for info.
Looks you might have intel based scsi adapter.
Did you install during setup ( ie F6 )?

Check google!!

hi , thanks for your reply. I think that I have created the problem....To cut
a long story short I tried to install xp on my daughters comp using the XP
disc I received with my new computer( which has a scsi adapter) .My daughters
comp has no adapter and the XP disc she has for her comp has only sp1 ,, mine
has sp2 so I thought save time downloading all updates I'll load my disc
onter hers...Now Im getting " iaStor .sys " message, and It wont let me
reload her original disc and says that the version of XP that is installed on
comp is newer than the version on disc... dont know what to do next...

If it's Windows installation XP CD, boot from it and do a "Clean Install".
This will erase her hard drive.

I have tried this with her xp disc,I have booted from it , it goes into
windows setup and it starts copying setup files , then stops and says "iaStor
file not found" when I press "ok" it tells me setup failed..I think it must
have copied something of my XP disc and when i try to put in hers it cannot
find specified files for setup...

I think so, I dont get the option to delete partition and reformat though.I
boot from disc the computer auto detects drives, then goes to a page where i
can select windows setup or microsoft windows xp , i select windows setup it
starts to read read setup files then get message about iastor file. It
doesn't give me other options , unless I'm doing something wrong( which is
probably the case ha ha)..I've also tried starting computer, putting XP disc
in,let it autorun then select install windows, at this point it tells me
newer version on comp than on disc and wont let me go any further.

hi there i've done it !!!!!! I had to uninstall service pack 2 to be able to
use original XP disc . Would never of thought of doing this if it wasn't for
your link, thanks very much for your time AND patience with me ! maybe speak
to ya soon when I bugger something else up .lol
