Install MSXML 40

I am trying to use my scanner and suddenly I get the message that I need to
install MSXML 40
how do I do that??
 
Thank you thank you thank you. Initially, it did not work, so I uninstalled
the previous version, and then reinstalled the present one and it is working
perfectly thank you.

Do you have any idea as to what happened in the first place to cause this
problem?

Well, that's hard to say. There are several MSXML versions around (up to
Version 6), co-existing side-by-side. Most of these core files need
additional resource files to be installed. In addition, the core file
has to be registered by the setup routine. With that said, either an-
other version had been installed or any strange file downloaded some-
where from the internet rather than from a Microsoft server. The
original Microsoft downloads did not cause any problems here, no matter
what MSXML version and MSXML service pack. An exception is the MSXML
Version 5 since that version is installed with MS Office 2K3 only.
