This may be a stupid question, I want to be able deploy a
Ac2002 data base I have created, to computers with no or
even a previous version of access installed.

Basically to run as a self conatined executable.

1) is this possible?
2) if it is, how would I go about it?
3) If I need to purchase software, what is it, where
would I get it and what would be the approx cost?

Thanks in advance - Jason

The Office XP Developer Edition licenses you to package your database
application with runtime support. Depending on the complexity of the
application and the variety in the installation environment, some find it
worthwhile to supplement the Developer Edition with a third-party installer
such as Wise InstallMaster, or InstallShield.

There is no Developer Edition for Office 2003, but the separate Visual
Studio.NET Tools for Office 2003 System includes the runtime support and
license. (And, no, you do not have to have full Visual Studio.NET to use
it.)

Hi Jason,

1) is this possible?
Yes. You will need the Office XP Developer's Edition. Here is an article that I found on MSDN
for Access 2000. I believe the steps would be similar for Access 2002:

http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/d...ry/en-us/dnacc2k/html/accessrt.asp?frame=true

As to whether or not you need to purchase additional software, this depends on the version that
you have right now. Microsoft no longer offers this product at the retail level (ref.:
http://www.microsoft.com/office/previous/xp/default.asp ). I think there was also an upgrade
version available. Try searching E-bay.

Correction:

1) is this possible?

No, as far as running as a self-contained executable. I forgot to mention that last night,
although the MSDN article probably clarifies that point.
