Install CD will not boot up

Even though my computer is set up to boot from the CD
drive first and does from my anti-virus disk, XP refuses
to do so. Upon startup it checks the CD drive and then
proceeds to boot from the hard drive without giving my
any choice.

I just want to clean install XP Pro and it's driving me
crazy.

Many brands of computers flash a message to press any key to boot to CD.
You might try watching for that. If that doesn't work, you can use the old
fashion way: Boot with a 98 boot disk, format the drive (use fdisk first is
the drive is NTFS), then install XP from the command line.
