I am getting porno on my computer. I did not ask for or request it, and I want to remove it. I can not. It activates Explorer every few seconds with a new website. I have tried adding those sites to my banned list, but they come up anyways. I have deleated Winlogon.exe to no avail.

My best efforts to remove this garbage has failed, and I desperately need help. MS is no help at all. I have even tried removing and reinstalling XP from scratch. Worked for a day. Then the porno was back. This problem prevents me form playing any games, and seriously hampers use of any programs due to constant interuption

Offer whatever advice you can, but please, please! do not give me a gun and the name of the programmer who did this. I might just do the world a favor.

More info about parasites:
http://www.aumha.org/a/parasite.htm

Download the utility CWshredder:
http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/files/cwshredder.zip

Unzip - close *all* instances of IE & OE, hit the executable and
follow
the prompts.

You can also download Hijack This from here:

http://www.mjc1.com/files/merijn/hijackthis.exe

Go here:
http://mjc1.com/mirror/hjt/

For instructions on how to use it; you have to post the log it
produces

so experts tell you what is good and what is malware

Try downloading, installing and updating the
spyware removers from the links below. Run both of them.

Ad-aware
http://www.lavasoftusa.com/support/download/

Spybot S&D
http://www.safer-networking.org/index.php?lang=en&page=download

If these don't correct the problem, then get yourself a copy of

BHODemon, available at
http://www.definitivesolutions.com/bhodemon.htm .

It does not need installing - simply unzip and run the EXE program. It

is easy to use. It will find the hijackware DLL files, and give you

the ability to disable them.

Hope this helps.

Hi
I had the same problem not long ago and a friend in IT at work gave me a copy of a program called "cwshredder" by a company called Soeperman Enterprises
It seems that the virus was a HiJacker that changes the home page of IE, it also delets part of itself when it gets in your PC so that programs like Norton can't see it
It worked ok, however I have since lost two of my system files and suspect it was the "cwsredder" that did it. I am looking for help to get the missing files back
If you want to try this and have trouble finding it let me know and I can send you the file and instructions

Welcome to the World Shite Web...

In short... The popups themselves are being opened up because the web site
you closed tells IE to open up the popup...

Furthermore, its common to find yourself in a porno web ring, each one site
opens the next site, which then opens the next in a continuous ring of
sites...

Then comes the fact that the first of these popups you encounter MAY in some
way be supporting the site you were veiwing financially, and therefore forms
part of its terms and conditions of "becoming a member" or whatever... so
strictly speaking, if you dont want these sort of pop-up, you shouldn't be
browsing that particular page...

None of this helps you, but what might be of help is the SP2 download from
the Micro$oft web site, which incorporates a firewall and popup blocker...
Free to download but pretty hefty...

The downside of pop-up blockers is that some sites, eg personal banking
sites, or forums etc, use pop-ups to take you where you need to go (VERY
poor excuse for web authoring)... which if you block tthe popup, means you
wont be able to finish the transaction or reply to a message or whatever...
On the whole pop-up blockers are good, but you need to relise you cant get
by 100% without them...

Next, you may have to remove any spy ware from your PC which may be opening
up a "extra" window when you first start IE, personal faves in this feild
are search bars... I dont personally have spy-ware removal tools as I dont
need them... YET anyway... But I reckon if you look back here at some point
in near future, someone else will have replied with a few suggestions in
this field also...

A big tip... never just click "yes" because clicking "no" re-opens the
request... Clicking "yes" will almost undoubtedly install a dialer from a
premium rate porn site... If it comes to that, I'd rather just save work in
progress and re-set the PC...

Its a sad fact of life that browsing the web, without a pop-up blocker, will
lead to porn within a few clicks. I once tested this in fact by going from
Disney web site to Necrophilia (of all things) in I think it was 8 clicks..
Its the way of the World (wide web) unfortunately...

All in all... I hope this helps and GOOD LUCK!

Go to http://www.grc.com/stm/shootthemessenger.htm .. download the small
program, run it and follow the instruction.. this will prevent the Windows
Messenger Service from being used by the porn vendors to display their wares
on your screen.. after you have done this, go to
http://www.grc.com/default.htm where you can download two other utilities
that prevent others from accessing your computer..

Greetings --

When visiting porn sites, always be careful not to
download/install their "free" viewers. You'll get more than expected,
every time. To repair the current situation, uninstall the
"viewer(s)" provided and then use Ad-Aware from www.lavasoft.de and
SpyBot Search and Destroy from www.safer-networking.org/ to clean up
any residue. Both have free versions for personal use.

You should also try using MSConfig to see if something is being
started each time you reboot.

Additionally, Look in the C:\Documents and Settings\All
Users\Start Menu\Programs\Start Up and C:\Documents and
Settings\username\Start Menu\Programs\Start Up folders, and in the
system registry, primarily in the
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run and
HKCU\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run keys.

How to Troubleshoot By Using the Msconfig Utility in Windows XP
