Inserting video

I downloaded a video clip from a e-mail both to CD and to the "my video"
folder on my hard drive. When I attempt to insert it into power point I see
a large green box on the upper right corner of the slide, I also see this in
the slide preview section. The hour glass on the mouse does not change and
it seems power point stops working. Any suggestions?

Need more data. Version or PowerPoint? Version of Windows? What service packs
are installed? What is the video file type? If you go to Start > Run and type
mplay32.exe (Windows XP or 2000) or mplayer.exe (Win 9X and ME) does the file
play in the player?

I am running windows XP Pro service pack 2, Power point 2003 the file is a
windows media file (wmv) and yes when I go to start run... i can get the
video to play (of course I have to go to my videos to find the file then once
i double click it palys).

I don't know if these things will help or not, but try the stuff at
http://www.echosvoice.com/tshoot_video2.htm

There are some issues with MPGs and Windows XP Sp-2, but the workaround is
to convert to WMV or AVI, so I'd be surprised if that's the problem here.
I'm thinking it may be related to hardware acceleration. That's the first
thing on the list at the link above.
