I have inserted few .avi video clips into my presentation.
The presentation runs fin as long as I have the video
clips resides somewhere on the computer. What I want to do
is to have this video clip as part of the presentation so
the presentation can run standalone. So far I haven't been
able to do this.

Thanks for your help,

Fred

PowerPoint will not let you embed video clips however here is the work around

Before placing you video into your powerpoint slide put it into the same folder as your PowerPoint pressentation. Now insert it into a slide. When you move your PowerPoint to a new computer or CDROM move the video with it always keeping it in the same folder as your PPT file.

You might want to try the MS media player 9 encoder. It can convert your AVI to a media player file. It produces very good quality with great compression. A smaller video file will load faster and play better. Also a free download from MS.

[CRITICAL UPDATE - Anyone using Office 2003 should install the critical
update as soon as possible. From PowerPoint, choose "Help -> Check for
Updates".]

Hello,

PowerPoint does not include the ability to embed (not link) multimedia
formats other than *.WAV audio files.

If you (or anyone else reading this message) feel strongly that the option
to embed other kinds of multimedia should be a built-in feature in
PowerPoint, don't forget to send your suggestion (in YOUR OWN WORDS,
please) to Microsoft at:

http://register.microsoft.com/mswish/suggestion.asp

As with all product suggestions, it's important that you not just state
your wish but also WHY it is important to you that your product suggestion
be implemented by Microsoft. Microsoft receives thousands of product
suggestions every day and we read each one but, in any given product
development cycle, there are only sufficient resources to address the ones
that are most important to our customers so take the extra time to state
your case as clearly and completely as possible.

IMPORTANT: Each submission should be a single suggestion (not a list of
suggestions).
