Inserting Table of Contents in Word 2000 using TOC as Headings

In my Word 2000 document, I prefer to use heading styles TOC 1, 2, and 3 as my nested document headings because they look more like "Normal" text as opposed to Heading 1, 2, and 3 which are bigger, italicized, etc. Trouble is, when I go to insert a Table of Contents, the Table of Contents Options dialog doesn't offer my TOC headings to be chosen for listing in the Table of Contents.

Hi, Avrohom,

The TOC x styles are the ones that Word automatically applies to the table
of contents itself. While I suspect you could change the table of contents
options to look for headings using those styles, you might get into a
circular situation where the table of contents tries to include itself.

Instead, modify the Heading x styles so their formatting looks the way you
want, and apply them to the headings. Then you won't have any trouble with
the table of contents.

As Jay has implied, the solution is to modify the built-in heading styles to
have the formatting you want. See
