Edward

I am using Word97 with Windows XP Home -

I used to be able to insert a picture and then drag it to whatever position
I wanted on the page - including headers and footers. Now, I am suddenly
unable to move inserted pictures - not even when right clicking and select
"Move here". I can resize them, but that is all.

Can anyone help?

Ed

You have the pictures inserted in line. You need to set an alternative
layout option other than in-line in order to drag the pictures round. I
forget how you set this in Word 97 - it will be a registry change required.

Right-click on the inserted picture, then left-click on Format Picture |
Layout | check the "Float over text" box | OK. Now you should be able to
drag the picture to where you want.

Hi, Graham.

I'm thinking you may have misread my message. Garfield-n-odie got it and
gave me the solution. Thanks for the input, anyway.

Best wishes,

Ed

No - I didn't misread. :(
Garfield and I were on the same track, but from a different direction.
Whereas he suggested checking the option upon insertion, I addressed the
issue of already inserted images, which is what you asked about, and the
possibility of changing the default insertion method for the future.

I agree, Graham. My message could have been read the way you saw it, but we
got there :)

Best wishes,

Ed
