I am creating a large pp with lots of pictures. Today,
after editing a picture, when I went to insert>picture
the "from file" option was no longer available.
Instead "new photo album" was the only available choice.
What happened? Is there a limit to the size of a PP file?
More important, what can I do to continue adding pictures?
I have compressed all the photos so far.

Normally, that option should always be available - try moving to another
slide (or another presentation) and see if you can get that option.

The only time that all options except the 'New Photo Album' are grayed out
is when you have no active open presentation.

In addition to Geetesh's suggestion, check that you weren't in Slide Sorter
view. You can't insert pictures there.

Thanks Steve, I never thought of that.

Neither did I until I went poking. If you know PPT well enough, it's obvious
that you can't do certain things, so it no longer occurs to you to try them.
