INSERT picture in email

I am using Word 2003 as my e-mail editor for Outlook 2003 . I would like to
occasionally insert pictures so they will be embedded (not an attachment)
direclty onto the email message. My Insert / Picutre / From File (etc)
choices are grayed out. Suggestions?

Check to be sure that the format in which you are compusing the message is
either HTML of Rich text.
If it is "plain text" you cannot insert a picture except as an attachment.

(This option is found on the format menu when editing a message)
