I am trying to find out how to create a link...All instructions (all that I
can finally find) tell me to first go to the "Insert Menu". WHERE IS THAT? I
can remember, at one time, having an option in "Tools" for "Insert Link" but
can't find that either.
Thanks

Can you be a little more specific please in what you are trying to
accomplish. Meaning what link are you trying to create in what program.

At the time, I was in a community forum with ebay and I wanted to send
someone to a picture and once to part of a discription. I noticed some
people had just written "go here" or "my bowl" (underlined and in blue) and
by clicking on that link you were taken right to it. I needed to do the same
but couldn't figure out how to create my link.....all instructions I could
find on microsoft (Windows XP Home) will start me at "from the Insert Menu,
choose the option...."

Everywhere you go, you see blue/underlined links to take you somewhere
else...I am referring to any web address that can be accessed by clicking on
that "link"..the instructions I can find are as in this example:
To insert a hyperlink or HTML page into a message
1. Click the place in the message where you want the hyperlink or Web page
text to appear.
2. To add a hyperlink, on the Insert menu, click Hyperlink. Select the file
type, and then type the location or address of the link.
To add an HTML page, on the Insert menu, click Text from File. In the Files
of type box, select HTML Files, and then find the file you want to add.

Where is this "Insert" menu??
Thanks

Suffice to say you are clearly using the wrong newsgroup for your particular
question, if you are using any Microsoft Office software such as Word,
Outlook etc. then there is always an 'Insert' menu where you can customise
the text displayed for the hyperlink.

Failing the above you need to tell us what program/s you are using and what
you are actually trying to achieve i.e. placing a link in a particular eBay
auction etc.

Thank you. I was in an ebay forum discussing items and wanted to reply with
a link to part of the discription or the picture of the item in question
(which was contained within an item I'm listing).
Sending the person directly to my item for sale would not be appropriate,
only the picture or part of the discription...a link to the picture out of My
Pictures would have been perfect. I saw several entries within this same
forum with links, one was simply "Item#2" - blue and underlined- a link to

I am using the lates edition of Internet Explorer with Windows XP Home, also
Outlook Express......Thanks

OMG, You are an Angel, Thank you! I am embarrassed it was right under my
nose! Thanks again, Cheryl

Okay, we are beginning to make progress now. :-) Are you trying to
create this link in an email or newsgroup board. The instructions you
listed below are for a particular program (i.e. Outlook, Frontpage,
Word, etc.); where a toolbar is used. I think you are getting confused
about the program and operating system; in your case Windows XP Home.
Now that we are aware that you are running Windows XP Home as your
operating system, what program are you using at the time of your
request. Meaning are you in Internet Explorer or Outlook when you want
to create the link.

Michael, thank you for your response. Sorry I was gone from my computer and
thought I had it all figured out. I find I am still duped by one (?)
thing....I contacted my ISP and was instructed on how to open my own web
page. He indicated it would be tricky as to how to gain complete knowledge
on how to utilize it like I want and he was right. I have created said web
page and was able to upload one picture from my picture file. Now I can't
remember how he showed me to do that and then I don't know how to make that
into a link as was my original task....
