Insert function

My insert function in new messages has stopped working correctly. When I
click "insert" to insert a document, it brings up an unwanted document file.
Then when I try to change the file on the pull-down list it brings up recent
websites I've visited! It was working fine until a couple of days ago.
 
That screen is designed to open the last folder you used.
To navigate elsewhere, don't use the dropdown list. Navigate in the
folder tree at the left, or type in the path where you want to go.
