I have re-created the example from Microsoft Excel Help from "Creating a one
variable data table", and when I select "Data Table" then select "Column
input cell" I select the cell specified in the example. I receive the message
"Input cell reference is not valid" The same thing happens when I try to
replicate the two variable data table from Microsoft Help.

Note that you have to select a "single rectangle that is more than one row
high and one column wide"

I have selected a range that is 4 by 4 for the one variable table - in fact I
replicated the table that is in the Help screen for "How to create a one
variable data table."

I can't reproduce the error, works for me, did you include the cell with the
formula and is it one cell to the right and on above the list?

Peo - I have re-created the table exactly as it appears in the help screen. I
copied the formula from the help screen (and the payment amount matches the
amount on the help screen, so I think it's correct) I select the first row,
including the payment formula and select thru the fourth line. Then I select
the interest % in the second column (9.5%) as my column input cell. I tried
it also as a row input cell - just in case I was mis-interpreting the
instructions, and still get the same error message. Is it possible to email
the file to someone and see if it works for them? Maybe it's my Excel? I'm
flummoxed.
