Hello All:

First of all, I know this is the Outlook newgroup.

My customer has had an operating system crash, but the original outlook
express files should be in tact.
I have upgraded her system with Windows 2000 and we have shown her the value
in Outlook (full product).
What we need to do is find her original outlook express files so that we
might import from them.

PLEASE help.....

Thanks

First, Outlook is not a "full version" of Outlook Express. They're two
completely separate products and are related only in that Outlook uses some
of Outlook Express' DLLs to do its job.

Second, the Outlook Express files are usually kept in the (hidden) folder

%UserProfile%\Local Settings\Application
Data\Identities\{big-number-here}\Microsoft\Outlook Express

although you can move them elsewhere. Enable the option to show hidden
files and folders when you search for them. They have file extension
".dbx".

Once you've found them, you can transfer them to the other PC and import
them into Outlook Express on that machine. Once there, you can export them
from Outlook Express to Outlook.

Well, the guys in the OE newsgroup could answer this question better than
I can but...Start | Search...look for *.dbx files. Make sure the search
tool is configured to look in hidden & system files.
