My home page has a link to a photo gallery. That page has thumbnails that
work ok.
The thumb page has a link for forward and a link to return home.
It all works perfectly in design mode, and in the preview.

When I go to my site, the home page appears, and the link to the photo
gallery. Thumbs work, but forward links and return link do not even appear
on the page.

Remove all spaces from file names in your links
- and make sure the links point to pages that exist in your site
