Hello everyone,

I was recently given a computer with Windows 95 and Wordpad already
installed. I find Wordpad a very handy tool when typing a message.
However, since I don't have the book that came with it, I have a
couple of questions that I hope someone can answer...

1. Is there a way to "count" the words in your document? I don't know
how to do this as I am new to this new technology. If I am in the
middle of a document I would like to know how many words I have
already typed so as not to go over a certain amount.

2. What about counting the lines? This could be done easily in short
documents but in larger ones it can be tedious.

3. Finally, a "spell checker". Is there one availible in Wordpad? How
do I use it? Anyone that can help me I would appreciate it greatly,

Regards,
Alan

Wordpad is what it is. It is definitely not the product "Word". Wordpad
is very simple editing program that sort of looks like a word processor
with limited functionaity. I agree with you it's handy.

All its capabilties are documented in its Help file. I recall that you
can find spell checkers for download on the Internet. Try starting with
some cleaver Google searches.

To do what you want, best to get a real word processor. There are many,
including Microsoft Word, Corel Word Perfect, Open Office, etc.

Hope this is useful to you. Let us know.

Check out Boxer (www.boxersoftware.com), which is a text editor that
will do everything you are talking about. What it doesn't do is
different fonts, bolding, etc., since it's a text editor, not a word
processor.
