Infected files on hotmail and AOL

I have been receiving emails from people I do not know
telling me to stop sending them infected files. I do not
know these people and I have never seen their addresses
before. How can I be sending them messages with infected
files if I do not have their addresses in my address
books? I have spoken to people in my address books and
they have not received these infected emails from me.

What would a solution be to stop all this?

Stop using your real e-mail address in public forums, such as newsgroups.
Someone has just lifted you address and just faking it onto the headers of
the junk mail they are sending etc.

To protect yourself in newsgroups
see

You may also have a virus or trojan that is sending or being used to send
the e-mails from you account/machine.
Check your system thoroughly using anti virus and anti spy/mal-ware products
