Competitors in an indoor version of skydiving have been showing off their skills in Bedfordshire. Bodyflight involves a vertical indoor wind tunnel, and simulates the freefall experience of skydiving without the same level of risk.

A massive wind tunnel at a former military science facility in north Bedfordshire hosted the Bodyflight World Challenge over the weekend. The annual event is now the biggest of its kind in the world, with over 40 teams, many who are professional, taking part. After nine rounds, the four-way freestyle event ended with defending Champions Airspeed Odyssey from the US pipping British team XL at the post.

Local boys Bodyflight Mamba took the two-way freestyle title.

The idea of flying indoors was first tried by the US military in 1964, but it wasn't until the early eighties that the sport began to take off.

Looks good fun that :D

Shame £35 only gets 2 mins of flight time though!
