index problem?

I have an index in my word document that is adding all the paragrahp after
the heading. I checked the heading and it is listed as heading and the
paragrahp is listed as normal? Anyone have any ideas why my computer is
torturing me?

index or rather a table of contents? Word creates invisible bookmarks
when it compiles a TOC, and the boundaries of these can easily be
expanded if RETURN is pressed at the end of an existing heading.

Regenerating the TOC (selecting it and hitting F9, and _not_ update page
numbers only) should do the trick.
