Index for Multiple Documents

Hi. I have an index that was created by a former employee and it referes to selected text in multiple documents. Right now an index entry looks like this:
Air Conditioner..........Sec 11 B, PG 1,
but when I press F9 to update it changes it to:
Air Conditioner..........1
Is there any way to make it so the "Sec 11 B" shows up?

In the document that contains the Air Conditioner information, what does the
page number look like? Does it just say 1, or does it say Sec 11 B, PG 1?
