Is there a way to delete the index.dat files, or replace it with a clean one from another user in win xp prof?

Hi Michael,

Is there a way to delete the index.dat files, or replace it with a clean one from another user in win xp prof?

Free History Eraser from:
http://smartprotector.com/eraser/free-history-eraser.htm
will delete the index.dat file

Another way would be booting from the Recovery Console and deleting it
from there, or booting from a Windows 98 floppy.

Install and Use the Recovery Console in Windows XP

Good luck, hope this helps

Restart in safe mode with command prompt. (tap f8 while computer boots) Make
sure you log in as administrator.

Type CD\ [enter] to change to the root directory.

Type del index.dat /s [enter] paying attention to the space between "dat"
and "/"
