Much better than that script is "Spider" from:
http://www.fsm.nl/ward/

Not only does it allow one to read the index.dat files, but version 1.16
also allows one to clean them.

You beat me to it, kline.

I've just checked out the Spider site and it seems to have been last
updated in 2001 - it's also nearly 4 times the size, and index.dat suite
has only just been updated; so on the whole I'd think it a better bet.

Apologies - I didn't know that, he must be modest as well; he pointed me at
geodisk too, another good'un.

The "guinea a box" reference, for youngsters, is to Beecham's Pills, a
popular excretion facilitator of my youth, they came in a tiny drum; the
expression became universal ;-)
