I've sent all but one index.dat files to the recycle bin.
I can never find out what's in them, because Windows XP
tells me I have to find a program to open them.
Presumably Windows XP can't open them, so they must not
be vital to the running of my computer. This last one I
can't even budge to the recycle bin. I get a message
telling me of an error if I try. It reads: "Cannot
Delete Index", then: "It is being used by another person
or program. Close any programs that might be using the
file and try again." I am the only person here, and the
only program running is the "Search" that I used to find
the index.dat's. Of course, when I close the "Search"
program, I am back at my Desktop!
What gives?
Thanks for any help.
