My C drive has an existing partition (F:) that I need to change to
increase the C drive space. Can anyone tell me how to do this please.

The only way you can create, delete, resize or merge existing partitions,
and not harm your existing Windows installation, is to purchase and use
a third-party partitioning program such as Partition Magic 8.

Obtain the software called Partition Magic.

The Windows XP Recovery Console has an app called DISKPART however it will
force you to lose all existing data on the drive and will enable you to
repartition. You will then have to reformat and reinstall. Many people do
not want to do that. Instead they want to simply resize partitions without
data loss. To that requires third party software. Acronis DiskDirector is an
excellent choice and very easy to use. Another program which should only (in
my opinion) be used by people with more advanced computer skills is BootIt
NG from terabytesunlimited.

I managed to extend C: Ntfs where Mce2004/5 resides in this box,
with D: Fat32 partition which contains a restore for MCE, using the
diskpart cmd. You don't want to try this unless you are prepared to
do reinstall at which time you can fix partitions. If you can make it
work, you do not have to do reinstall step and don't have to buy
software.

Unfortunately, no version of Windows provides any way of changing the
existing partition structure of the drive nondestructively. The only way to
do what you want is with third-party software. Partition Magic is the
best-known such program, but there are freeware/shareware alternatives. One
such program is BootIt Next Generation. It's shareware, but comes with a
free 30-day trial, so you should be able to do what you want within that 30
days. I haven't used it myself, but it comes highly recommended by several
other MVPs here.

Whatever software you use, make sure you have a good backup before
beginning. Although there's no reason to expect a problem, things *can* go
wrong.
