A couple of days ago I was logged onto the computer in a limited account. I
logged off and at the Welcome screen selected my Admin level account but
Windows wouldn't log me on, it kept saying I had provided either and
incorrect user name or password (which I hadn't). After a re-boot I was
able to logon the same Admin level account without difficulty. This is a
clean install of XP Pro SP2 on a new AMD 64 3000+ based machine. Was this
just some sort of a glitch or does anyone recognize this as being indicative
of a problem.

Hello,

Did you make sure caps lock wasn't on and all that jazz?

Michael Ortega

Thanks for the reply Michael, any help is appreciated. This was not an
issue with caps lock or anything else of that nature. I am positive that
the username and password were absolutely correct, and I took several
attempts at it just to make sure. This was strictly a computer issue
(software? hardware?) that was fixed by a re-boot.

Hello Again Dale,

I would tend to think maybe it was just a random glitch.... has it happened
again? If so perhaps try changing the password.....or (big hassle) re create
the account.... other then that I'm not really sure what would cause / fix
the problem.

Michael, it hasn't happened again since, so I am also hoping that it is just
a random glitch. Once again though, I do appreciate your response to my
post, and if either yourself or anyone else has any more thought on this I
would love to hear them.

Glad to be of assistance its always nice to know that my efforts are
