I downloaded and installed the Office XP Suite SP3 this morning. I am now
getting this incessant popup box that says a program is trying to access my
email addresses. I've only seen the popup before when I send email from a
order processing program (VB/Access based).

I have all our email checked for viruses at our IPs server (before we
download it) and also use McAfee on my desktop.

I'd appreciate advice on why I am getting this incessant popup and whether
it is necessary.

Thanks

The reason you are supposed to get that prompt is if some
program is trying to access your contacts. It is a safety
feature that is made to prevent the spread of email
viruses.

Not sure if SP3 has any bugs in it but you may want to
look into that.

Do you have any other programs that pull addresses from
your address book? If you don't and there are no bugs
with SP3 then it would lead me to think that you have a
virus.

Try using the online scanner that microtrend has. It will
give another perspective in case something is wrong with
your anti-virus.

I get the same popup for the same reason, and my PC is
clean.
I've found a workaround that you might try - open Outlook
a second time, check whether or not you get the same
popup, I think you will. Close the second copy, then go
back to the first one, and the popup stops.
