Anyone know if incdser.exe is a Microsoft Windows XP program or a Nero
program? Frequently, when I go to shut down the computer, I get a
pop-up saying incd won't close. Sometimes there's a message that
incdsrv.exe has a problem and is closing.

I have a lot of problems with Nero, and want to completely clean out
all Nero programs and do a clean re-install. The problem is finding
all the Nero parts and pieces.

At the same time, I cannot copy an image file from HD to CD with the
MS copy function. It just hangs up. Nero is such a pain in the ass
that I'm not even sure if I'll reinstall if I can get the MS copy
program to work.

It is possibly malware that you've picked up on the Web. It is not a WindowsXP
nor a System32 file. I got no hits in a Google Search. Try the below:
Ad-Aware SE Personal Edition - Download Free version and Run It!

No, InCD is a Nero packet writing program. See:
http://www.cd-rw.org/software/cdr_software/cdr_applications/ahead_incd.cfm
The question is about the source: Nero or Microsoft.

It could be that MS has incorporated a third-party packet writing
program for their MS Copy to CD program. Or, it could be part of Nero
Ahead or Nero Burning Rom. If the latter, I can delete the problem
..exe file and restore it when I reinstall Nero (if I do). If it's MS,
then I don't know how to replace it.

Where is incdser.exe located on your machine? What folder is it in?

I have Nero 5.5.8.0 & InCD 3.2.7.1

All files are in >>>
C:\Program Files\ahead

I do not have incdser.exe. The only things close are InCD.exe and
InCDEx.dll.

incdser.exe is not an XP file. And it does not look like it belongs to
Nero.

Update your anti virus software and run a full system scan. Scan for
scumware also.

Program Files\ahead\InCd (781 kb application)
I have Nero 5.5.8.0 & InCD 3.2.7.1

I have Nero 5.5 and 5.543. InCd doesn't want to load in 5.543, but
5.5 seems to load. Last time I installed it, that is.

I have Symantic Anti-Virus with automatic updating and automatic full
system weekly scan. Friday's scan showed no problems. Dunno what
"scumware" is, but I also routinely run Spybot.

to delete.

Nero won't uninstall. I've emailed Ahead's tech support for help on
this. I've also asked them for instructions on completely clearing
all Nero programs. Different Nero (Ahead) programs have come bundled
with various devices, so there's several Nero things in my files.

When Nero works, it works a treat. However, it's the most unstable
program I've ever worked with.
