This relates to a new Gateway computer with Home eddition XP
While booting the systems displays an error message pop-up: "In CD error: In CD service not running"
I could not find a remedy and would very much appreciate your help.

In CD is not part of XP it's a third party application. It may have placed a configuration entry in the services list. Go>start\control panel\administrative tools\services and then scroll down to see if you can find the In CD service. Then if you can double click on it and then choose how you want it to start in the "startup type" line by clicking the drop down list arrow. You should be able to have this set to manual. You can also go>start\run and type in msconfig and uncheck the In CD application on the startup tab. You don't need it starting when windows does. Just when you want to burn a disk or copy one. Here is the link to tell you all about it.

Have fun and welcome to XP. :~)
