All my messages I send out and someone replies to that come back in my in box
show paper clips on them like they have attachments but there are no
attachments. It is not showing on new messages but comes on ones I send out
and get replied back on and in my inbox. They do not show up on the other end
or in my send box. What the heck? I have gone thru tools and message rules I
dont find anything to fix it. Any ideas. It just started so not sure why?

Tools | Options | Read
Turn off "Read all messages in plain text".

Look at the raw source code of one of those messages. You can do
so by pressing Ctrl+F3. There should be some evidence of an
attachment. Also, what happens when you click File, Save Attachments?
Does the Save dialog identify the file type of the attachment?

No there are no attachments therefore the save attachments is grey and you
cant choose it. they are showing up on messages I send out and someone
replies back to and they are in my inbox with paper clips.

okay i upgraded to windows live mail and the clips are still there. is it
because it is going thru AVG virus scanning? I wouldnt think that should put
a clip on it. I have had it for a while and it didnt do it before.

Perhaps. I have never used antivirus email scanning because it is
not recommended. For an explanation, see
http://thundercloud.net/infoave/tutorials/email-scanning/index.htm

Merely turning off email scanning in AVG may not be sufficient.
Chances are, you installed AVG antivirus using its default install option.
If so, uninstall it, then reinstall, but select 'custom' install, which then
allows you to forgo installing the troublesome email scanning module.

While AVG is uninstalled, try Windows Mail again, just to verify that
the culprit has been found.
