Are you sure it's your PST file that's at the limit, and NOT the mailbox on
your ISP's mail server?
(Tell us what makes you think it's the pst file that's at the limit....)

Items that have been moved to the Deleted Items folder are not deleted.
They can't be because, well, you can still see them. It's just another
folder showing a list of items. A delete that merely does a move is NOT
actually deleting the item.

Permanently deleting an item marks it with a status of "Deleted".
Outlook will hide delete-marked items. Hiding an item is not the same
as physically deleting it. In databases, a purge operation is needed to
physically removed delete-marked items. In Outlook, the purge is its
compaction function. So after deleting items, they are still in the
database and still occupying bytes and are physically removed from the
database only after you compact (purge) the database). Have you yet
compacted Outlook's message store (i.e., its database)?

- A delete moves the item to Deleted Items. Not a real deletion.
- Permanent deletion marked the item as deleted. The item is hidden,
not physically deleted.
- Compaction physically removes the delete-marked items. This reduces
the size of the database.

I'm using Outlook 2002, not sure on how to check and tell u what OS & service
pack level - here is the error msg.

"Task 'MSN: Folder:Inbox Synchronizing headers.' reported error (0x8004060C)
: 'The file C:\Documents and Settings\JQ\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\Outlook\JimMSN-00000004.pst has reached its maximum size. To
reduce the amount of data in this file, select some items that you no longer
need, then permanently (shift + del) delete them."

I compacted and checked the size of the pst file and it is 1.81 GB and the
size on disk is the same.

I had this problem before and deleted & cleaned up my inbox - this time I
deleted all the inbox & msg's sent.

Thanks for your assistance
