I am trying to restore a corrupt .pst file using the Outlook Inbox Repair
tool. The tool stops during the 7th phase and I keep getting the following
error message

"An error has occurred which caused the scan to be stopped. No changes have
been made to the scanned file."

What does this mean and how should I proceed?

how big is the pst file? the reason that i ask is that there is a 2gb file
size limit for pst files under outlook 97-2002.

is this pst file from outlook 97-2002 or Outlook 2003? The reason that i
ask is that Outlook 2003 has a new pst file format that isn't backward
compatible.

Also, is the PST file sitting on a NTFS or FAT32 partition? (FAT32 has
limits for file sizes that Outlook 2003 can easily push past.)

Lemme get this straight,
2 gig limit, no warning on approach, no way to shrink without potential data
loss, and the only way to shrink is an offsite MS solution.
Is it any wonder Apple computers are flying off the shelves?

Iam Frustrated

You didn't get it straight. At least for Outlook 2002, there is a warning
given and the point of warning is adjustable via a registry setting. Shrink
without data loss by creating a new PST, moving some of the data in the
original to it, and comacting the old.
