When I go to a site to download for example a pdf file for submitting
a rebate form the file does not download. I get a error. If someone
sends me a pdf file I am able to save it and print it. Does anyone
else have this problem? If you have determined the solution please
post here. If you need more information to help me solve this problem
please post the information needed and I will supply. None of this
happens under Windows XP.

Thanks,

oldman.

You probably need to activate something that will let IE7 open pdfs. I'm
not sure exactly what you have to do, but I'm sure someone on this list can
tell you.

PDFs you get via email go through a different process than when you click on
a link while in IE7. That's why you're able to access ones that are emailed
to you.

Here's something you might try: When you see a pdf link in IE7, click your
RIGHT mouse button on that link and choose "Save target as..." That might
at least let you save the pdf that is linked, which you probably will then
be able to open by doubleclicking on the file in the saved location. (When
testing this out, save the pdf to your desktop so that you don't have to go
looking for it.)
Anyway, if that works, it'll be a workaround until someone else here tells
you what setting in IE7 needs to be changed to that you can open PDFs
directly from your browser.

In addition to what the others said about add-ins, I had to lower my
security settings in the browser to allow PDF downloads. You may have to do
the same.

I have followed your instructions and have found the following as
related to PDF:
Adobe PDF Reader Link helper enabled
Nuance PDF enabled

I do not see PDF by itself. I checked Adobe Reader and the PDF is
shown as active.

Those are the only ones mentioning PDF. There are a total of 15
add-ons.

Not sure what needs fixing.
