In Office 2003 trying to open "Notes" causes a fatal error

Outlook crashes when trying to open "Notes"
Detect & Repair has been run (a lot)
Office 2003 has been uninstalled and reinstalled.

I need help to get at my Notes

If this were happening to me, I'd first try a new mail profile and then a
new PST (if that's the delivery location), copying what I could rescue from
my old PST and leaving behind the items that caused the problems.
 
I tried 2 things.
I imported an older .pst file - Notes crashes outlook
I created a new .pst profile - Notes crashes outlook

Any other ideas?

Naturally. You already said your Notes folder was broken.

A PST and a profile are completely separate. To create a new profile, click
Control Panel>Mail>Show Profiles>Add.

Did you run the Inbox Repair Tool on the PST that is having the problem?
This is not Detect and Repair, which can't fix a broken PST.
 
Hi Brian,
I created a new mail profile as you suggested.
When I open this profile, all is well. I can open the Notes page.
I then created a trial note and closed the note.
When I click the Note folder - Outlook crashes.
It seems that the Note application is corrupted.

What can I try next?

What did the Inbox Repair Tool show?
 
Hi Brian,
The file is outlook.pst and is 4.6mb in size
The Inbox Repair Tool showed:
"No errors found in this file"
Folders Found in this File - 19
Items Found in this file - 1256
