In MS Word, why would you use online collaboration?

I'd like to learn about the online collaboration feature in Word. Please
share with me how you have used it and what makes this feature useful. Thanks.

Yes, this is a sincere question. I write policies and procedures for a health
care management company and am trying to learn if this feature might be
helpful in our review process.
 
YIKES!! I'm in the process of updating the P&P for a health care network! We
should compare notes. ;-)
