I am hooked up to an in-house network and the internet through ethernet. How
do I disable the in-house network while keeping my internet capability?

How does the PC get Internet? Is the Internet access directly
connected to this PC?
 
go to network connections > advanced (top menu)>advanced settings and
uncheck "file and printer sharing" (for TCP/IP and NETBEUI if installed)

you will still see that computer in network places but willnot be able to
access anythin on it (do the same for the other computers if desired)
