In Access - my form won't allow data input

I've just developed my 1st form. The data from the tables display but the
form will not allow me to input data. On the left-hand side of the form, the
black arrow doesn't change to a pen.

Is your form based on a query? If so, is the query updatable? Not all are:

details. (don't worry that that article says Access 2000: it applies to all
versions)
