I have downloaded some scriptwriting templates from the British Broadcasting
Company website. I have tried every possible option at my disposal to locate
them in the correct path to allow them to appear in a separate tag when
applying File-New-Templates on the top taskbar. Could you kindly inform me of
the correct path to the correct template folder. I have Word 2003. Many
thanks.

C:\Documents and Settings\[user name]\Application Data\Microsoft\Templates

Add a new folder under Templates and if it contains templates, it will
appear as a tab in the File>New dialog.

Thanks for your prompt reply. Unfortunately the path you highlight does not
contain an Application Data folder on my system. Mine reads c:\documents and
settings\david jones\ with such sub folders like cookies, desktop et al, but
no application data.

The only place I can locate other Word templates together is at c:\program
files\micrsoft office\templates\1033. This sub folder contains all of the
word templates along with other subfolders like behaviors, buttons, layouts etc.
I have attempted to add a folder with my scriptwriting files in both the
templates and 1033 folder without success. Is Word 2003 a particularly
difficult application to tweak as far as templates ae concerned? Sorry to be
a nuisance.

Hi, David. In Word, click on Tools | Options | File Locations. Note the
folder designated for "Templates". If you can't see the entire path, click

Thanks Garfield. As I was following your link I noticed that hidden files
were not shown on my system. Rectifying that brought the Application Data
folder and subs into view. It is now working. Thanks also to Doug.
I am off now to skin my son for modifying my file setup!
