I am having a problem with importing my previous .PST file from CD to WINDOWS XP, OFFICE2003.

I have been a DOS screen user and an Explorer user in both Windows98 and Windows2000. On this new WINDOWS XP, OFFICE2003 system, I would like to "copy" my previous .PST file over the OFFICE2003 default .pst file ... so that I can see my previous email and address book.

However, on the command-line, I cannot 'CD' (change directory) to DOCUMENTS AND SETTING. Therefore I am not able to get down to the Office2003 default.pst (even though I am an administrator). FIRST, I do not understand why I cannot do this.

Neither, am I able to see the new C:\DOCUMENTS AND SETTINGS\RAE MATTHEWS\LOCAL SETTINGS\APPLICATION DATA\MICROSOFT\OUTLOOK.

Could someone please help me import my old .PST file OVER the new one on this new system of mine?

Use Explorer to copy your .pst file from the CD (Read-only - Outlook
requires read/write access) to your hard drive and then remove the read-only
tick mark from its properties. Then use File->Open from Outlook - do NOT
import your .pst file.

If a directory has spaces in it then surround it in quotes.

CD documents" and "settings

or

CD "documents and settings"

or (my favorite)

CD do*gs

Many people have experienced problems when copying over the top of another
PST. It would be better to copy it to the same directory as the default PST
and open it from within Outlook, make it your default delivery location,
then close the default PST. After shutting down Outlook, you can then
delete the default.
