I recently bought a new computer with Outlook 2003. I tried to import .PST
file that containts my email and another one that contains my address book.
I get an error message that reads: File is not a personal folders file! The
file is currently stored on my hard drive and read only attribute is not
checked. The original files is on a computer belonging to my previous
employer and I no longer have access to it. The orginal files were also from
Outlook 2003 that were exported to the .PST files.

Do you have any means by which I can open my old email and contact list
folder?

Thanks
Khufu

very surprised that you have TWO files - a pst file normally contains
all your Outlook data in just one file. Have you tried File-Open-Outlook
Data file in Outlook?

Yes, I tried openning the file using the normal open command. I got the same
error. The reason that the file is put into PST separately was to avoid
mixing my personal items and business folders.

Never import a PST. Also, your Contacts folder is always in the same PST
that contains the Inbox where your mail is delivered.

Make sure the file is not read-only. It it's not and if you cannot open the
PST using File>Open>Outlook Data File, and SCANPST can't repair it, you're
completely out of luck. One cause of this is copying a PST that is
currently opened in Outlook.
