Importing .pst files

I am using Outlook 2003 running on Windows XP on one
computer. I have exported the .pst file and tried to
import it onto another computer into Outlook XP running
on Windows XP. I get the message saying that access to
this file is denied. I did the exact same thing but in
the other direction a few weeks ago and it worked fine.
Help, please?

to the other? You may need to copy the pst folder to the
desktop first, then import the pst file into Outlook from
the desktop.
 
I tried copying the file from the CD to the desktop and importing it. The
message I now receive says that the file "is not compatible with the version
of the Personal Folders information service. Contact your admininstrator."
I am the administrator and the only one who uses this box.
 
Any PST file you export from Outlook 2003 will not be compatible with
earlier versions.
You must instead create a new PST in "Outlook 97-2002" format and copy data
into that PST.
This is just another example of why exporting is a poor choice for
transferring Outlook data to another installation of Outlook.
 
!. NEVER import a .pst file - use File->Open.
2. You will need to create a 97-2002 compatible file in Outlook 2003. 2003
uses a unicode format that allows for larger than 2 gig .pst files. Export
your .pst file in Outlook 2003 and select the option for the earlier file
format.
