Hello all,

I'm hoping somebody out there might be able to help me.
I've recently had some issues with my personal profile
and I can no longer access it. Is there any way that I
can import my old email settings from Outlook Express
(including the messages and address book) without logging
into the old profile? I can't seem to find the directory
that holds the email settings.

Thanks in advance,

Mike

Settings are Registry based on each OE Identity. However,
if you do a search for *.dbx you can locate your original
profiles mail data stores. They will list from Documents and
Settings\'Username'...

You should copy them to a secondary location, such as a
different partition. Once moved you can re-point your new
mail profile to use these stores from Tools, Options,Maintenance
,Store Folder and browse to where you copied the files.

OE Tools>Options>Maintenance>Store folder will reveal the location of your
current Identity's store. Write it down.

In Explorer, search for *.dbx. Any found which are not in your current
Identity's store will be those associated with the other Identity (assuming
there are no others). You may Import these files into your current or
another Identity, do not Move them.

You can similarly search for Address Books (*.wab) and Import any found into
another Address Book.

In WinXP *.wab and *.dbx files are marked as hidden by default. To view
these files in Explorer, you must enable Show Hidden Files and Folders under
Start>Control Panel>Folder Options>View.
